Public cloud resources can be useful for highly variable workloads that need to scale rapidly, while shared hosting can be sufficient for low-risk, low-demand web properties. Dedicated servers are strongest where stability, control, and accountable operations outweigh the need for instant elasticity.

Questions to Ask Before You Commit

Before selecting a hosting model, leadership should look beyond processor specifications. The following questions reveal whether a provider is prepared to operate critical infrastructure responsibly:

Clear answers matter because infrastructure failures rarely result from one dramatic event. More often, they grow from small gaps: an unpatched service, an untested backup, a forgotten account, or an alert no one owned.
